Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Govt of Rajasthan, on January 02, 2026, issued a notification on Voluntary Aadhaar Authentication for Document Registration.

The following has been stated:

The Government of Rajasthan, with approval from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and UIDAI, has authorized the Finance Department to use Aadhaar authentication for establishing the identity of individuals during document registration under the Registration Act, 1908. This is aimed at improving convenience, transparency, and efficiency in service delivery.

Aadhaar authentication will be voluntary and limited to presenters, executants, and witnesses during document registration. The Department must obtain explicit consent from the Aadhaar holder before authentication. Importantly, no service shall be denied to any individual who refuses or is unable to undergo Aadhaar authentication. In such cases, the Department must offer alternative and viable identity documents, namely:

• Jan Aadhaar Card

• Electoral Photo Identity Card

• Indian Passport

• Driving License

It shall come into effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
